Terms of Use
Plain-language summary
SCA Opportunities is a free, curated list of internships, jobs, fellowships, scholarships, and competitions for African undergraduate students. We point you to opportunities — we don't run them.
Always verify deadlines, eligibility, and application details on the original source site before applying. We do our best to keep listings accurate, but we can't guarantee anything about the organizations we link to.
1. What this service is
SCA Opportunities is a free, public platform that curates publicly-available information about internships, jobs, fellowships, scholarships, and competitions relevant to African university students. The platform is a product of Student Companion AI, based in Kigali, Rwanda.
We do not charge for access. We do not require an account. We do not run, administer, or select applicants for any of the opportunities listed.
2. Who can use this service
Anyone with internet access can use SCA Opportunities. The platform is designed for university undergraduate students (generally aged 18 and older), but there are no eligibility restrictions on viewing the site itself.
By using the site, you confirm that you are either aged 18 or older, or are using it with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.
3. The nature of what we provide
Important: SCA Opportunities is a curation service, not an application service.
- We curate opportunities by researching publicly-available postings.
- We link out to the original organisation's application page.
- We do not process applications, screen candidates, guarantee outcomes, or act as an intermediary.
- We have no formal relationship with most organisations listed (unless explicitly stated).
When you click "Apply" on any opportunity, you leave our site and enter into a relationship with the third party listed. Their terms, their privacy policy, and their decisions apply from that point forward.
4. Accuracy and verification
We aim for accuracy but cannot guarantee it. Specifically:
- Deadlines change. Organizations sometimes move deadlines forward, close applications early, or cancel programs. Always verify the current deadline on the source site.
- Eligibility can change. Programs may update eligibility requirements after we list them. Always confirm you qualify before investing time in an application.
- Programs can close. Funding cycles end. Programs pause. Some organizations restructure. We remove or hide listings when we become aware, but we may not always catch changes immediately.
- Details may be incomplete. Our cards summarize; the source site has the full picture.
You are responsible for verifying any opportunity before applying. Treat SCA Opportunities as a starting point for your research, not the final word.
5. Liability and decisions you make
SCA Opportunities is provided "as is", for informational purposes only. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for decisions you make based on information displayed on this platform.
- We are not liable for the outcomes of any application, interview, or programme participation resulting from an opportunity found here.
- We are not liable for the conduct of third-party organisations, including issues like scams, misrepresentation, or unfair selection processes at listed programs. If you suspect a listing is misleading or fraudulent, please email us immediately so we can investigate and remove it.
- We are not liable for technical outages, data loss from the subscribers list, or interruptions in service.
This limitation applies except where liability cannot be limited under applicable law.
6. How you may use the platform
You may:
- Browse, share, and refer to opportunities on this platform freely.
- Share links to specific opportunities or to the site as a whole with friends, WhatsApp groups, classmates, or social networks.
- Subscribe to the weekly newsletter (optional, one email field).
You may not:
- Scrape, republish, or commercially resell the curated listings without permission.
- Use the site to transmit malware, spam, or attempt to exploit technical vulnerabilities.
- Submit false information to the subscribe form (e.g. other people's emails without their consent).
- Impersonate Student Companion AI or claim to represent the platform.
7. Intellectual property
The SCA Opportunities site design, logo, and curation structure are the intellectual property of Student Companion AI. The underlying opportunity information (titles, deadlines, descriptions) comes from publicly-available sources and belongs to the respective organisations offering them.
You may reference and link to specific opportunities without attribution. Reproducing the platform's design, logo, or branding requires our permission.
8. Relationship with Student Companion AI
SCA Opportunities is a free, standalone product of Student Companion AI, which also operates an AI chatbot platform for academic support. Using SCA Opportunities does not grant access to the chatbot, and vice versa. Each product has its own terms and privacy policy.
9. Reporting issues
If you find an inaccurate listing, suspect a listing might be fraudulent, encounter a broken link, or experience a technical issue with the site, please let us know at africa@studentcompanionai.xyz. We read every message and will typically investigate within 5 business days.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use as the platform grows. Significant changes will be announced at the top of this page, and the "Version" and "Effective" dates above will always reflect the current version. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of Rwanda. Any disputes arising from use of the platform will be resolved through good-faith discussion first; unresolved disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of Rwandan courts.
